A grandmother and child baking together in a sunlit kitchen

Kinful

Everything a carer needs to keep a child safe tonight, and everything a parent wants to know about how the day went.

Why we're building this

Right now, parents and carers keep track of a child's day through text messages, sticky notes, and guesswork. A carer doesn't know if the toddler slept badly, or which foods to avoid tonight. A parent doesn't know what happened at the park, or whether lunch actually got eaten. Kinful fixes that, gently: the safety information that matters shows up the moment a shift starts, and the small moments come back as a warm story instead of a report.

Three simple ideas, and one that keeps everyone safe

🌅

Start the day in sync

Before leaving, a parent leaves a quick voice note: “rough night, let's keep today easy.” The carer knows what kind of day it is from minute one.

🛡️

Everything a carer needs, fast

Allergies, routines, and who to call sit on one screen, above the fold, found in under 10 seconds, not guessed at or texted about mid-shift.

🍲

Cook and shop together

Recipes, allergies, and favourite meals live in one shared place. When something runs low, it's added to the shopping list on its own.

📸

A story, not a spreadsheet

Instead of clinical logs, the day becomes a warm feed of photos and captions. At pickup, parents already know how the day went.

A day with Kinful

Here's what one evening looks like, start to finish.

  1. Shift starts

The carer opens the briefing: today's tasks, allergies, and who to call, all above the fold.

  2. 8:30

Parent drops off, leaves a quick voice note, pins today's lunch recipe.

  3. 11:30

Carer cooks lunch, snaps a photo, and the app notices olive oil is running low and adds it to the shopping list.

  4. 15:00

A photo from the park lands in the feed, with a caption.

  5. 18:00

Parent reads a warm summary on the way home. Nothing to ask, everything already known.

Why this could really work

  • Parents want peace of mind, not more admin.
  • Carers get clarity without feeling monitored, and flagging a problem never has to feel like confrontation.
  • Nothing like the shared recipes-and-storyfeed combination exists in other childcare apps today.
  • Backed by real research: CHI 2026 interviews with 21 nannies, and data showing two-thirds of parents of young children already rely on more than one carer.

What's next

A shared parenting approach

A short “Our Approach” card so a carer never has to guess a family's bedtime rituals, screen-time rules, or way of handling a tantrum.

Language preferences

So a family and carer who don't share a first language still stay in sync.

A searchable recipe book

Every family recipe, easy to find, so it never gets lost with time.

An end-of-year memory book

Every recipe, photo, and voice note from the year, compiled into something worth printing and sharing.
